Those Crazy Swedes! ;o)

This is what happens when you put a Volvo 240 turbo engine in an old tractor...

Redistribution of Wealth

It's Halloween!

Have you seen this video?

(Description of video in case it's no longer available at some point in the future: In a demonstration of the unfairness of wealth redistribution, a man sets up a "booth" with a hidden camera at a Trunk-or-Treat and attempts to redistribute candy among children.)

Unless the parents were already in on the "prank", I think he's lucky an adult didn't step up and confront him!  (To be fair, he did apparently give all the kids he "pranked" a bunch of candy to make up for the redistribution/frustration...)

Such a Nice Guy.

It's nothing new.  We've known for a while that he has a tendency to be, well, a jerk...

Still, last night was a reminder (if any were needed):

So very... Presidential!

Can It Be True?

This feels familiar... I think I might've heard it (or something like it) before.

So... Can it be true?  Could an adult (without a severe mental handicap) really believe that deer cross the road at specific places because of the presence of deer-crossing signs?

ETA: Well, maybe it is true!

Beautiful Planet

Thanks to Grandpa L. for sending along this video-- "Time-lapse footage of Earth as seen from the International Space Station" (complete with electrically lit cities, thunderstorms, and the aurora).

Warning: May cause you to tear up at the sheer beauty of it, so possibly NSFW, unless you're fine with public displays of emotion. ;o)

(Or see it bigger on YouTube. The largest size won't fit in my current blog format.)

Look, It's an Eskie Puppy!

Okay...
Eskie puppy videos make (almost) everything better. Even if they do grow up into bratsy little dogs that like to wake you up in the pre-dawn hours, knowing full well that you'll have trouble going back to sleep. ;o)

I ought to go to YouTube for early-morning, puppy-based entertainment, from now on. (And Facebook shall be shunned forever and ever, amen. In that direction lie fail-proof depression triggers.)

How Prius Lost My Business ;o)

Please add me to the list of people who find this commercial horrible, creepy, and nightmarish:

Truly, it is awful.

I solemnly vow not to run right out and buy a Prius, in protest of this creepy ad.  (Because you know I was going to buy one, otherwise, right?)

. . . Don't Even Know What to Say

. . . Is this woman for real?  (Yes, unfortunately, I'm pretty sure she is.)  If there are many more like her out there, no wonder we're headed to hell in a handbasket.  Lady, please, please tell me you don't vote.  (Please?)

Warning:  This might make you angry, fill you with despair for the future of our nation, or just generally ruin a perfectly good Thursday.  Watch at your own risk.

Watch Fresh, Watch Local

This report made us laugh last night. The subject matter (a meth lab bust with children on the scene) isn't at all funny, but then there's the "creative" reporting/camera work (keep watching; you'll know it when you see it) and Boomer (who "kept an eye on them").

Donald initially thought this should be brought to the attention of the people behind the "hide yo' kids, hide yo' wife" and "I'm backin' up, backin' up" auto-tune videos, but sadly, I don't believe there's enough there to merit it.  Well, we'll keep a look-out for more promising reports.

Derailed Duck

Two crazy Swedish guys break an amusement park ride. ;o)

(But really, they weren't spinning it that fast-- not so fast that you'd think it should come loose. Good thing there were no kids standing in the duck's path!)

Trixie Jumps Through the Hoop

Trixie jumps through a hula hoop on command. Er, well sometimes she does.

Trixie "Finds It"

We play a game called "Find It" with Trixie. We take one of her toys, hide it somewhere (while she waits in another room), and tell her (as you've probably already guessed) to find it. She enjoys it, and I think it's fun to watch as she sniffs and puzzles out the toy's location.

Trixie Barks at Bones

It's so much fun when the People slide one of the dogs' Nylabones over the hard surface floor and send it flying toward you! (Just take Trixie's word for it.)

...Of course, it's a little anticlimactic, because, in the end, it's still just a gnawed-up plastic bone. Oh well. Such is life.

Trixie Is Famebus!

Again!  ;o)

She likes to hunt (and pounce on) bugs (real or imaginary?) in the taller grass around the yard.  The only real downside of this method of bug-hunting is the mouthful of icky grass. A small price to pay.

Guilty!

I know-- some "experts" swear dogs are incapable of feelings of guilt. "That dog doesn't feel guilty! Even if he did eat the cat treats, he forgot about it two minutes after it happened! He can just tell by your tone and body language that you're displeased, so he reacts accordingly." Personally, I'm not convinced, but either way, this video gave me a good laugh.

"The Deep"

If you haven't already seen this guy-- PES's-- other stop-motion videos, you really ought to give them a look.  (And if it's been a while, some of them are worth a re-watch.)  They're amazing!

How It's Made: Amigurumi

Apparently, this is one of the things that can happen when I wake up (way) too early and can't get back to sleep-- I flood my blog with stop-motion videos.
